The You’ve Been Sentenced board game is a word game designed to be played by 3 to 6 players who are aged 8 years and over. The game will usually take around 40 minutes to play and consists of 540 word cards, an egg timer and a scoring pad. The aim of the game is to come up with a sentence using your 10 randomly selected cards, each of the cards having 5 words or phrases displayed upon it. The first person to come up with a full sentence can turn the egg timer and the players then have the time it takes for the sand to run through to come up with a sentence.
Once the time is up each player will read their sentence out loud and the other players will either accept the sentence or reject it. If they reject it then they have to explain the meaning of their sentence so a decision can be made on whether to accept or reject it. If the sentence is rejected then you’re said to have “been sentenced”, hence the name of the game.
Overall the You’ve Been Sentenced game is a great game to play with the whole family, it offers some real educational value as well as being quite different and more fun than many of the other word games out there on the market at the moment.
The game retails around $30 and is really worth every penny for the quality of the game and it’s packaging. There are also several expansion packs available for this game which make it more fun and interesting to play, it also increases the overall educational value.
